To help U.S. Veterans become self-reliant and heal through horticultural therapy, to lobby for full access to alternative medicinal therapies, and to support U.S. Veterans with a community support network.

Who We Are

Patriots Helping Vets is a 100% free for all US Veterans. All we ask for is verification of service. We are a dedicated crew of vets and civilians working together to bring the joy and peace of gardening to more vets for free. Our journey is a path that cannot be walked alone.

As Veterans, we are trained to put our lives into our brothers’ and sisters’ hands. The best position of strength is when we work as a team to accomplish the mission. That team. That comradery. It feeds our soul. We are creating a community and a place where healing can begin.

Patriots Helping Vets is an organization dedicated to helping each veteran finally come home. We know that when veterans gather together; we become an invaluable resource to each other’s healing journey.

Where we started from our President Tom Rand

I get a lot of "thank you" as a co-founder of PATRIOTS HELPING VETS. Truth be told, I was more comfortable with just teaching other vets to grow face to face meeting thru mutual friends.

In reality, my children, Josh and May are the ones that saw how many more veterans I could help via social media. Boom Tom Cape Gardener was created. That was 5 or 6 years ago and it took off to the point of starting the PHV group.

Without a doubt, my biggest supporter has been, my wife, Marty she has always believed in me and has been an intricate part of our mission. From mailings, to making salve for the guys, and a host of many veterans over the years.

A seed can be life changing for a Veteran. When I started doing what I do before PHV even existed, it was all about teaching 1 on 1 how to make soil to grow a plant. It has not been an easy road but it’s been very rewarding in KARMA points. I just wanted to let everyone know how PHV was started and has grown into what it is today. Stay lifted everyone
